That happens to thin micro-fleece with a short nap. This is high-pile fleece brushed on both faces, so there's enough loft to survive agitation. Two rules keep it that way: cold wash, and no fabric softener — softener coats the fibres and is the real reason plush goes stiff.

There's minor loose fibre in the first wash — true of every plush fabric on earth. Wash it once on its own before wearing and that's the end of it. After that it doesn't transfer onto dark clothing.

Static comes from dry air plus over-drying. Tumble low or hang dry and skip the softener sheets. The fabric weight works in your favour too — it drapes away from the body instead of clinging to it.

It's warm, not insulating. The pile holds warm air at the surface rather than sealing heat against your skin, and the open wrap front lets you vent instantly. Most people wear it through spring evenings, not just winter.

Cut to skim the ankle, not pool at the floor. Around 5'4" and under it sits closer to the top of the foot. Check the size chart at the top of this page, and size down rather than up if you're between sizes on height.

The sash runs through fixed side loops bar-tacked at both ends — the same reinforcement used at the pocket corners. Tie it and leave it tied; the loops keep it threaded through the wash.
